Uniform Commercial Code (U.C.C.) financing statements, 1967-[ongoing].

A probate judge must record U.C.C. financing statements upon request (see Ala. Code, 7-9-401 [1975]). The series consists of a form submitted by a lender to perfect a security interest in collateral. This form superseded chattel mortgages and a variety of other security devices in 1967. Information on the form includes debtor's name and address, the secured party and address, filing officer, the types of property covered by the statement, and the signatures of the parties. This record began in 1967 and continues to the present. A U.C.C. may also be filed with the Secretary of State's office in Montgomery (S-7-44, Uniform Commercial Code Financing Statements).
